I PROVIDE THERAPY FOR ADULTS, TEENS, CHILDREN, AND FAMILIES.
INDIVIDUAL THERAPY, FAMILY THERAPY, CO-PARENTING THERAPY, AND REUNIFICATION
INDIVIDUAL THERAPY:
Individual therapy can be a transformative experience bringing to life possibilities one may never have imagined. I can help you safely explore personal values, goals, hopes, and desires, to gain a clearer picture of what makes you happy, and what may cause a variety of unpleasant feelings. There are many different approaches to individual therapy, and it is important to determine the best way forward as you begin your work. Together we will explore what brings you to therapy and what you are hoping for. From this investigation, we will collaborate to engage in a process that works for you. Part of the course of therapy is learning the different types of treatment available and selecting a modality based on what works for you. I tailor my interventions to meet your specific needs.

FAMILY THERAPY:
Family Therapy seeks to reduce distress and conflict by improving the systems of interactions between family members. Relationships are the cornerstone of healthy development and the most important relationship in a teen's life is with their parents. Conflicts may arise when unspoken rules and roles between and among family members do not evolve in response to an individual’s personal growth. Rules and roles within a family context are often unspoken and may exist in the subconscious realm. For example, perhaps for years the youngest child has taken on the role of entertaining family members at dinner time with silly stories or actions that were appropriate as a child. When that child becomes a teen and is entering a new stage of development, he or she may become shy or self-conscious and no longer want to be the center of attention at dinner time. Other members of the family may not understand this change in behavior and feel hurt that old traditions are suddenly not followed. Any number and combination of rules and roles may become stuck and cause friction between family members. Exploring expectations in a safe, respectful, and open way can bring families closer together as they learn more about one another and the root cause(s) of conflict.

PARENT-COACHING:
Parent Coaching seeks to create strategies and adjust approaches to maintain growth and development of the parent / child relationship. Often times, parents become accustomed to approaches that worked at one point, but have now exceeded their intended purpose and are no longer creating the desired responses from a child or teen.
Parent Coaching works to shift the mindset from the classic / traditional parenting model, to a more attuned and collaborative approach that meets the need of a child or teen struggling with mental health or behavioral issues. Children face a variety of challenges, opportunities and pressures that did not exist even just 10 years ago. Parents may feel lost or frustrated when a child or teen shuts them out by saying “you don’t understand.” Although nobody knows and loves a child the way a parent does, it sometimes takes an objective, outside perspective to initiate a new approach that meets the needs of a child dealing with mental health issues or the pressure of growing up in today’s world.

COURT-INVOLVED THERAPY:
I have received specialized training in court involved therapy (CIT), that includes co-parenting therapy, reunification therapy and adolescent/teen therapy. I have worked with families who are going through separation and/or divorce frequently over the past 10 years. This process can be very difficult for families, and I understand the complexity of emotions and problems that arise during this process. At a certain point, a therapist may need to be involved to help navigate problems and help parents come to resolutions. I work collaboratively with parents, attorneys, the court system, and other providers as needed and approved.
I have also received specialized training in high conflict mediation.
